Handi-Foil, the industry leader in the manufacture, sale, marketing and distribution of disposable aluminum bakeware, has an immediate opening for a Cost Accountant at our facility in Wheeling, IL. This privately held company has been in business for more than thirty years and is experiencing strong growth every year. Our company’s operations include multiple manufacturing and distribution facilities.


Handi-Foil is looking for a Cost Accountant to join the team. The responsibilities of the role include cost analysis and reporting, inventory management, and supporting the overall operating performance of the business. The position will interact with all levels of management and work on initiatives at multiple manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, self-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and report monthly operational results including production, inventory, operational variances, raw material yield, and overhead expense spending trends
  • Prepare ad hoc cost analysis for key areas of operations and make recommendations that support the decision making process
  • Lead cost savings projects at multiple manufacturing facilities and implement standardized process and procedures for operation teams to follow
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle count activities for all plants
  • Reconcile inventory including: raw materials, finished goods, and WIP from the perpetual system to the general ledger for month-end and year-end
  • Review slow moving and obsolete materials and ensure inventory reserves are properly stated in accordance with guidelines
  • Support other aspects of the month-end and year end closing process including: journal entries, commissions analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and account trend analysis
  • Provide item level profitability analysis and support setup processes for new items
  • Partner with key functions including operations and general accounting in order to achieve objectives
  • Collaborate with department managers across the company to support overall department goals and objectives
  • Respond to inquiries from Senior Leadership in a timely manner
  • Assist in development and implementation of new applications and procedures to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Work on special projects, process improvements and other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, CPA a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, general accounting or related finance area
  • Experience working for a manufacturer is a plus
  • Excellent communication, organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Must be PC proficient with advanced MS Excel skills and solid experience with other Microsoft Office applications
  • Oracle system or other large MRP experience is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, and problem solving skills required
