Easy Homemade Desserts That Freeze Well
If you have never made desserts to freeze them, you are in for a treat! Not all desserts freeze well, though, so you need to make sure you are choosing the right recipes to try. I have done quite a few rounds of trial and error concerning making delicious treats for this so that you can benefit from my experience! These are some of the yummiest desserts that freeze well and taste great!
Angel Food Cake
Did you know that you can make an Angel Food Cake without an Angel Food Cake pan? You can! Angel food cake is one of the fantastic desserts that freeze well and thaws quickly!
Plus, angel food cake can be enjoyed on its own or topped with just about anything, so it is an excellent choice for variety.
Carrot Cake
Carrot cake is delicious! And you will love it, even more, when you realize how well it freezes. Bake, freeze, and serve – it’s a no-brainer! We freeze carrot cake often and let’s be honest here, it makes an amazing “mom only” dessert. The best way to freeze this delicious cake is to do it with the frosting already on. It makes slicing it up for serving much easier once thawed.
In case you are looking for a good recipe for one, here are a couple of my favorites:
Cheesecake
Cheesecake is an excellent dessert to make for freezing because it freezes so well, plus, you can freeze the entire thing or in individual pieces. Cheesecake is another great dessert that can be topped with almost anything, so we recommend freezing it with no toppings, and once you pull it out to thaw it, you can top it with anything you want!
Here are some of our favorite cheesecake recipes:
Tip: Although cheesecakes are almost always in a pie shape, they don’t have to be. we often use square and rectangular pans (like Handi-foil meal prep pans in various sizes) for cooking them in. You will love to save time on cleanup!
Cookies
Cookies are always fun to make, and they freeze very well! With cookies, you have several options. First, you can just make a big batch of cookie dough and freeze it in sections to be baked later. Or, you can make all of the cookies and freeze them to pull out and enjoy them, no baking needed!
If you bake the cookies first, you need to freeze them individually and then put them in a group into a freezer-safe bag. Next, place the bag into a container such as the meal prep containers that you can put a lid on. This does several things for you:
- The bag and the container will help protect the cookies from the freezer burn.
- The container will help protect the cookies from breaking and damage in case other frozen foods get placed on top of it.
- It helps keep your freezer looking more organized!
As you can see, there are many delicious desserts out there that you can freeze and enjoy later!
